Just when I thought I was back on top of things, they all fall behind again.

I knew today was overbooked when I realized that in addition to the scheduled dental appointment for Tristan and the obligatory grocery trip with my mother-in-law I also had to hit the laundromat, because our washing machine decided to start smoking (it's too young for that, but there's no talking to them), Adam picks up Evan's cold and has to have a doctor's note. Never mind that there's absolutely nothing a doctor can do for a viral infection (the antibiotics are prophylactic against secondary infections, and the cough syrup is probably not significantly better than over the counter products), I must spend the thirty dollar co-pay to get the note to satisfy the school. I ought to bring a class action suit against the state department of education, on the basis that schools are forcing parents to spend money unnecessarily in order to receive free mandatory education, but that's more than I can do right now. The doctor's office is half an hour away, and when he squeezes you in you usually have to be there on time and wait most of an hour. I managed to finish a substantial part of one of the Skeeve and Aahz books. However, it is now after two in the morning, and I am only just getting to any work at all. It is inconceivable that I would be able to get through all the e-mail from the weekend, plus the forums. It is so ridiculous it's not even something to attempt.

It happens that in the early hours this morning while I was tossing on clothes for the day, I tracked down that other letter I mentioned--the one that would make a good addition to the Difficult Questions section of the site--and pulled it together as question and answer pages with a bit of HTML, as well as adding it to the letters index (and finishing the coding on that) plus linking it from the previous question page. All these pages were uploaded, so that's now on the site. The new question is, how do we know that all of life isn't just God's great cosmic joke, that He isn't laughing at us? The answer is telling.

So at least I got that much done.
